The picture might give the indication that there's a decal/logo/etching of "Beer" on the glass, whereas it is clear and has nothing on the glass itself - making it look a little clinical. Certainly was appreciated by the recipient, and as we were in the pub, the previously ordered pint got poured straight into it, making it look a lot more respectable!
