You've had hours of fun flying our Sky Challengers, now it's time to upgrade your pilot's licence and take control of the Picoo Z XL Vortex. Not only is this outdoor helicopter considerably larger than all of our other choppers, it comes with everything a beginner needs to truly master the skill needed to keep one of these birds in the air, including a heading lock Giro - system which provides you with extra stability.

Controlling a 3 channel helicopter isn't something to be taken lightly, so the Vortex comes with an extensive manual, a demonstration DVD and a set of training gear. The idea is to crawl before you can walk, so the gear includes attachments for the rotors and the transmitter that will restrict the choppers movement, giving you a stable but enjoyable learning curve (less of a baptism by fire, more a baptism by lukewarm water). There's even a spare set of rotor blades in case you decide to get up close and personal with the nearest tree. Once you've mastered control of the Chopper, you can slowly start removing parts of the training gear until you're fully confident enough to fly unassisted, in full 360 degree glory.

Poor flight qualities

Reasonable construction quality. Very silly battery holder requires a screwdeiver to remove for charging. Main problem is flight performance - pretty unstable, and with poor quality servos, unpredictable and un-repeatable flight characteristics e.g trim for good hover, then move control stick to fly forwards, then release stick, it should return to a reasonable hover, but no, it keeps a good forward cyclic for a while, or worse, returns to a backward flight trim. Just poor quality mechanics / servo / rotor mechanism. Returned for refund.

Very disappointing

Terrible polysterene construction. Awkward battery opening. Do not buy this. Buy the Blaze 3D which is the same size and a great robust construction.
