Chopping boards have become something of a vanity item in recent years, what with the advent of the celebrity chef and a national obsession with blinging up the kitchen. Signature boards endorsed by such chefs are great, but it doesn't get around the problem of chopping lots of different kinds of food on the same surface. The last thing you want is to be introducing broccoli to raw meat (unless salmonella suits you), so why not try this nifty set of chopping boards?

These Index Chopping Boards are a space-saving and, more importantly, health-saving measure that not only look cool, but give you a variety of colour-coded surfaces to chop upon. There are four different boards, one each for onions (or any other stinky foodstuffs), raw meat, fish and vegetables. This ensures that no pesky germs will start making attacks on your innocent courgettes, and that you won't poison your dinner guests - always a bonus. When you're not chopping, simply pop them back in their silver-coloured protective index box and bask in the knowledge that your cooking hasn't killed anyone.

You could even go the whole hog (or should that be pork?) and opt for the super-snazzy knife block version, which comes with a variety of great-quality blades and will make your chopping experience even easier. Using the Index Chopping Boards has obvious safety benefits, but they also look sleek enough to slot into any modern kitchen. They're effortlessly pleasant on the eye, and a little more interesting than the unwieldy railway sleeper of a chopping board most people seem to favour. Chop away with confidence and style.

Features:

  • Index Chopping Boards including four chopping boards or, if you fancy, including four chopping boards and four knives.
  • One chopping board each for four different food groups: raw meat, fish, onions and vegetables.
  • The boards are green, white, red and blue.
  • Knives are also colour-coded.
  • No need to scrub the same board when you've been chopping raw meat, just use another.
  • Rubber padding on unit base to prevent slipping.
  • Open-bottomed to enable draining.
  • Stylish space-saving set.
  • Hygienic chopping means there's a minimum risk of having garlic-y aftertastes and spreading germs from raw meat.
  • Suitable for ages 12 years + (children are not to chop without supervision).

Size:

  • 20 x 30 x 0.8 cm (each individual board, not including 3 x 5 cm tab).
  • 24 x 35 x 7.5 cm (unit when boards are in).

A great idea

Having just owned ONE chopping board up to now & using one side for veg.preparation and the other for meat,it is so convenient as well as safer to have a separate board for all the different foods.

Cutting it Fine

This 4-in-1 chopping board is not only a très stylish kitchen accessory, but also an efficient use of space - like a culinary filing system. On top of that, it actively encourages proper hygiene (I feel genuinely bad if I falter and chop meat on the veggie board). My only gripes would be that the boards are a little small if cutting, say, a lot of veg, and the red and green ones get used a lot more than the fish one and the 'dead jellyfish' one, so they are more marked. But these are minor whinges. Recommended for colourful chefs who like things orderly.
