One quick scroll through the Instagram explore feed will tell you one thing: monochrome is in.

The sleek combination of a black and white colour palette is incredibly trendy right now, and it looks like it is here to stay.

Not only is the monochrome look both sophisticated and stylish, but it is an easy way to make a statement in your home no matter the size of the space, and at an affordable price.

Want to get the look? Here are our top tips!

1. Add Some Texture

The monochrome style can appear quite cool and cold, so one way to warm it up is to use different textures, of course whilst sticking to the black and white colour palette.

Throw a few polka dot or striped velvet cushions onto the sofa, and add a knit throw too and you will instantly have a much cosier space.

And to really add some texture, a big fluffy monochrome rug could also look fantastic!

2. Gloss Will Add Some Sheen

One thing about the monochrome style is that it can be very flat, lacking any dimension, so one way to add another dynamic is glossy accessories.

From coasters, to glossy prints, to maybe a shiny vase, you can really have some fun with accessories to spruce up your space.

And of course, the higher the gloss the better!

3. Greenery Is Good

Although the central idea of the monochrome style is a black and white colour palette, sometimes a pop of colour can help add some warmth.

And one great colour to use is green, with plants being the perfect way to not only warm up any room, but they will also breathe life into the space.

House plants are very in right now too, so this will also ensure you are on trend.

4. Use Prints To Make A Statement

Here at IWOOT we can't get enough of prints as they are an easy way for your personality to shine through in your home.

And clean, minimalist, black and white designs will fit in perfectly with a monochrome style, whilst also helping to make a statement.

Make sure you don't overwhelm your space though with bold prints, or clutter with too many.

5. Light Up Your Space

Although the monochrome style is quite clean and airy, you can always lighten up the darker areas of your space.

Fairy lights could add some warmth to the room, whilst a big lamp could not only add some light, but it will also make a statement.

Smaller table lamps are also really cute, and perfect for popping on if you want to read a book whilst enjoy a cuppa on the sofa.
