Is this the right mini helicopter for you? Click here to find out

Five years ago we found a mini helicopter in Tokyo as good as this one. It was one of a kind, built by a Japanese engineer, was very hard to fly, and cost £1000. So you can imagine the level of excitement when we came across the Micro Mosquito. At just 20cm long and billed as the worlds smallest 3-Channel indoor RC Helicopter, this bug-like marvel with its cutting edge micro-motor technology and patented dual-rotor design, is the highest spec and most functional mini helicopter of its kind in the world.

Looking distinctly mosquito like with its two bright green LED 'eyes' (great for night flying), the Micro Mosquito has full helicopter manoeuvrability, and its digitally proportioned control allows for very precise flying. It has an astonishingly smooth motor system giving you a beautifully clean take off and landing, as well as full forward and reverse control. In the past a helicopter of this complexity would have been a considerable challenge to fly, but the Micro Mosquito has such a stable flight pattern that you can fly it straight from the box.

It comes with a helicopter launch pad that doubles as a charger, and a 45 minute charge will give you a full ten minutes of flying time before it needs refuelling. The controls are so good that you can take it off from your hand, fly it round the room and land it back on your hand again. It's really quite the most fun bit of kit we've ever had the privilege to play with.

I'm very impressed with the responsiveness and handling of this little helicopter: it's so tiny that I thought it'd break as soon as I bounced it off a wall, but it handled knocks and scrapes admirably by flexing. I found that it flew best if away from walls. My hints on a successful flight: give it a burst of power when taking off, nudge the rudder a bit and give it more power. It'll soar into the air and should then generate plenty more lift. At this point, you can ease back on the throttle and it'll hover; keep going and it'll skim along the ceiling. At first, if I saw that the 'copter was going to hit something, I just dropped the throttle down to zero; this is a bad idea as the Mozzie will then fall out of the air like a rock. Better to add more rudder and nudge the trimmer control to bring it out of a spin. In a few words: easy does it, except on the throttle, when more is better. The helicopter looks great in the dark: with its bright laser-like 'eyes' and sharp moves, it could swoop out of the air like some sort of killer motorised bat, though not as quiet as one - in fact, not really like one at all. The Mosquito charges by plugging into a portable base unit, which is itself powered by 6 C cells. Alternatively, you can plug a mains adaptor into it: 4.5V DC, positive pin; I found that the PSU from an Imp Radio - also sold on IWOOT - does nicely.

I have just recieved this little mozzy for xmas, I have been unable to put it down, it's so addictive! My dad also has one, and now the battle begins!!!!!! It's FAB!!!
Duncan Mac, Spain

Got this little beuty for Christmas and was soon bouncing it off the in laws walls and ceilings in no time. Great fun but tricky to master due to it's tendency to start swinging out of control with positive feedback. However I am fully addicted to the thing and am getting a bit better at trying to fly it forward and land where I want to. My best pressie from Santa of 2006!
Steve S, West Kirby

The micro mosquito is the best flying helicopter out there at the moment with its ability to hover, move left and right and even forwards and better still it has the ability to even reverse and with just a quick 30 minuite charge off the heli pad come charger youll have it wizzing around th office and landing back on your desk with its powereful LED lights still shining bright, and the best bit about it is that you can let your highly unskilled friend that is useless with it and if he crashes it then so what this little chopper that is half the size and wheight of its best selling brother the"bladerunner2" will vertualy withstand any crash as its really indistructable.
Chris J, Derby

I got this for Chrismas and it figuratively flew right out of the box and right into the Chrismas tree, and after many a crash is still going, and the controle are quite good, but it is drawn towards walls. But anyway I can say it is the best r/c helicopter I've ever had.
Christopher M, near omagh

This micro heli is the best on the market. It is a great heli for all ages. I loved it. On Christmas Day I flew it so many times I almost killed the batteries on the charger. The person or company who created this masterpiece should be recognised. It was so fun flying it indoors around the house - it even can fly outside. The controls are very responsive and all you need is a little throttle to get this little machine up in the air. Thanks for all the info about this little machine!
Logan P, Lewistown

I love getting your catalogue, I'm in a boarding school and we all crowd round it to see whats hot this month.
Derek M, Nairobi

This is an excellent toy. Set yourself a 'mission' and go for it. The heli is fairly robust, but don't be tempted to push it too far. Hitting flat walls is OK, but keep clear of anything that the rotors can get tangled in. i've just fixed a breakage on my lower rotor with epoxy and it flies fine again. great fun and easy to handle. My 8 year old can manage it pretty well.
Dave C, Morpeth

My sister and I bought this for my Dad in a moment of madness and it was the best moment of madness ever ! He loves it and is still playing with it weeks after getting it. It is a little difficult to land where you want but that is part of the challenge and other than landing it's really easy to fly . Everyone who has seen it has been amazed at how tiny it is and they want one too !
Kim G, Sheffield

I recently bought this as a present for my boyfriend - thank you sooooo much IWOOT for making his little face light up every time he plays with his 'bestest present EVER!'.
Hooti, Essex

I bought this product and it was okay, but when I went to play with this gadget I only goy 10 minutes after waiting 40 mins. I think for a gadget this size should only take 20 mins to charge, but it was pretty good (while it lasted).
Tom, Liverpool

The Micro Mosquito is the best gadget in the world!!! It's monuvarability is second to none i thought it would break at the silghtist knock but it keeps on bouncing back. It's brillant remote gets it flying instantly and you wont be able to put it down.
Jonathan Campbell, Dronfield

Simply the best helicopter I've come across, stable, nippy and the charge will go for ages! Super fast delivery as well.
Freddie, London

Got this for my boyfriend for Valentines, now it's been up and down the country visiting every other man he knows! It took a lot of incredibly bad crashes and constant play before I came back to order the spare parts! My advice-order the spares when you order the heli so you don't have to wait to play with the little guy again!
Claire, London

I GOT MY SON PICCOOZ WHICH WAS RUBBISH SO DIDNT REALLY WANT TO GET HIM THIS, BUT I'M GLAD I DID. IT'S THE BEST RADIO CONTROL THING EVER!
