Aquasaurs (or Triops longicaudatus to be precise) have been around for a staggering 350 million years! The reason they have survived so long, is that their eggs can lie dormant in suspended animation for twenty years (yeah ok the math doesn't add up, but we imagine they can do twenty year leaps), their eggs only hatching when they come into contact with water. Well now you can hatch and raise real prehistoric creatures at home.
The tank is made from a lightweight plastic that firms up when you add water, then you simply add the eggs (you get about 50 of them) and within days you'll be growing little pre-historic creatures - for real, now how cool is that. Ours hatched after two and half days and probably think that humans (actually not sure they think much) have enormous heads as we all keep peering into the tank to check out how they're growing.

Customer Reviews for Aquasaurs
How cool are these little creatures! Within a few days I had a fair few of these little guys swimming about... alas, now there is only one (due to the fact that he seems to have eaten all of his mates!) His name is Wilf and he ROCKS... and he is huge. Everyone should have an aquasaur on their desk at work :-

Expected 1 or 2 to survive as per the instructions ..... but actually still got 8 biggies!!!! Most fun is spreading the little stones all over the bowl and watching 'em move them all down to the bottom... great teamwork!!!

Bought this for my son's Christmas pressie, put eggs in on the 27th Dec, and now we have got 11 big ones. Wicked to watch - I show all my friends, we love to watch them. Very easy to clean out now that they are big. We clean about once a week. We get lots of the body skins in the tank, and we thought they were eating each other but none were missing so they must shed their skin. Definitely recommend this for small KIDS
