There are quite a few scanners specifically for slides and photographs on the market nowadays, but many of them involve a drawn-out series of steps that mean your old snaps are more likely to stay in the loft than grace your walls. Fortunately, these two particularly excellent scanners are here to put an end to any faff-ridden (don't you hate it when things get faff-ridden?) processes that might bore you to tears before you've even found the on switch.

Both of these scanners are as good as effortless to operate. The Pics 2 SD scanner doesn't even require a PC to work, handily coming with a hefty digital screen on which you can view, edit and generally muck about with your pictures. The scanner itself is in charge of a whopping 5.1 megapixels with up to 3600 dpi, and it stores all your masterworks on an SD Card (why else did you think it was called 'Pics 2 SD'?). So all of your negatives and photos can be converted into digital format in no time at all, and without the use of a PC. Just pop them in one of the appropriately sized trays, scan them and then celebrate how much time you've saved yourself.

If, however, you want to muck about with your pics on a PC, then the Pics 2 PC is the scanner for you (and, apparently, another triumph of explanatory titling). Easy-to-use editing and transfer software is included so that tarting up your slides is as easy as… well, a very easy thing. Not exactly a degree in nuclear physics. While we're on the subject of easy things, scanning your slides is a one-touch process and literally only takes 2 seconds - how about that for convenience? Again, it has a 5.1 megapixel scanner with 3600 dpi, so you don't have to worry about accidentally making Auntie Ida appear wrinkle-free or omitting the seagull you tried to catch in the act as it flew off with your chips.

Basically (and with technology, basically is always the best way to present things), scanning doesn't get much easier than these two siblings of photographic ingenuity. Your musty box of slides won't last forever - but a quick scan with one of these will soon change that.
