Back in the day, calculators took up a lot more space on a desktop. With a design that harks back to the early calculators, the Retro Calculator features an electronic 'digital' display, number memory storage and solar power technology which uses the suns energy for power.
It even doubles up as a mouse pad to use at your desk, so its large size actually comes in handy! - A.D.
Features:
- Design based on a retro calculator
- Electronic 'digital' display
- Doubles up as a mouse mat
- Mustard

Retro Calculator
I haven't had the 'real' feedback yet from my 8 year old recipient niece. However, she is away until Sunday on holiday, when she will see it for the first time. Like her as a a nipper i struggled with maths/numbers/equations. I remember the first mass produced calculators hitting the market when I was about 12 0r 13. I still struggled.Eventually at 15-16, I got a down to earth Maths teacher who demystified it all for me and I got a B grade Maths O'level, after being in the bottom grade throughout! Now that little triumph has nothing to do with my gift, but I'm a great believer that if you can add a bit of fun into something, that for me at least was Dull City, the learning process can be easier, simply because the pupil ENJOYS it more. I gave her a money counter for her birthday 3 months ago. She had £3-4 of shrapnel. The present came early and as she was a bit poorly at the time my sister gave the present early. Great joy and some learning too! The counter 'tallies' each coin as you put one in.It's an L.C.D. screen running on batteries. My little niece (then still only 7!) somehow managed to 'lose track' by taking certain coins out to replace with others, then forgetting what she had removed, thus having to start again, Apparently she loved it-I don't know why! This RETRO CALCULATOR has big features-not like the little pimple sized ones that came our way aged 12/13! It reeks of fun and for the pupil who struggles to see fun in this area (like me at that age) this is all important.

Not what I had expected.
If you are considering buying this and think it is an calculator that actually uses tape you are unfortunately wrong. I bought this thinking it was a real replica of the old tape calculators from the 70's, unfortunately I was wrong. When it arrived I was thoroughly disappointed to discover it was simply the picture above stuff onto a foam contact switch board fashioned into a boring modern calculator, which is considerably more inefficient than it's Casio contenders. Overall I am not impressed as, but I probably should have done more research into what it was that I was buying, but here I am doing my civic duty and informing the masses of my mistakes. Please learn from mine if you are also poorly misinformed.
