Equal Measure Jug
If only somebody had shown us the Equal Measures Jug back at school, we'd probably have paid more attention during Chemistry. For some reason Bunsen burners, litmus paper and the chance that somebody might get sent home early due to a nasty accident involving solvents wasn't quite enough to engage us for the interminable two hours on a sunny Tuesday afternoon. Alongside the standard measurements of ounces, cups and millilitres are lists of the equivalent volumes of all sorts of strange things - for instance 110 ml is the volume of the brain of a Tyrannosaurus Rex, and 20oz of flour contains as many grains as there are people on the planet! Nobody wants to learn a fact that they can use, what you really need is a pointless fact to impress people and make them go "ooh, what an awfully strange thing for someone to know". Keep the jug in your kitchen and you can equip yourself with 16 trivia gems to entertain and befuddle your guests. "Did you know that 460ml of liquid is equivalent to the amount of body cells that die on a good day? Now be a dear and pass the gravy".
